Night time services investigation work - Anzac Pde - 4 Feb to 14 March

Posted 28 January 2014

Transport for NSW will be carrying out night time service investigation works on Anzac Parade to verify the location of existing buried utilities such as water, telecommunications, gas and electricity. Rock and soil samples will also be tested to investigate the geology of the area. The investigations will assist in the proposed design and construction planning for the South East Light Rail project.

The works will occur on Anzac Parade (from Dacey Avenue / Alison Road intersection at Moore Park) through Kensington and Kingsford and over the ‘Nine Ways’ roundabout to Sturt Street.

This work will be undertaken at night between 7pm and 5am over a six-week period:

  • Tuesday 4 February to Friday 7 February
  • Sunday 9 February to Friday 14 February
  • Sunday 16 February to Friday 21 February
  • Sunday 23 February to Friday 28 February
  • Sunday 2 March to Friday 7 March
  • Sunday 9 March to Friday 14 March

No day time works will take place during these times.

The work crew will survey the utilities overnight then restore the area for day time traffic and pedestrian movements. The work will involve removing sections of road, pavement and soft ground to test rock and soil samples and verify the exact location of buried utilities along the alignment.

Equipment used to undertake this work includes saw cutters, excavators, bobcats, potholing trucks, tip trucks with trailers, plate compactors, generators and flood lights. Utility vehicles or stand alone rigs will also be used for geotechnical works. Some of the works will be noisy and you will notice changes to traffic conditions while the work is being undertaken. All work will be done under traffic management and all roads will be reopened by 5am.

If you have any urgent enquiries or complaints during these works, please contact the Transport for NSW 24-hour Construction Response Line on 1800 775 465.
